Day 15-2

Ok, so should have not read Marjy's last blog, such english and constructed sentences that I shall never be able to develope with ease, not to mention the many typos I make. Hah. I dont care. Anyway.

Yes, sadly, the year has ended (BOOOOO, I am wailing about how I dont want to be a second year student), I'm quite sure that if I let myself, I could cry my eyes out. I loved being a freshman, I dont ever want this to end. Maybe of the fact that I have not been in a school for ages (thanks to homeschooling and private exams) and I dont ever ever want to leave school, reflecting on how fast the year has passed scares me to the core, pretty soon I will be in the senior year, doing FYP, then to the working world NOOOOOOOOOOOO. Scientific ambitious time-travelling nerds should get their ass moving.
Being a second year student, I would get to know the freshman, and then, they will ask me questions...and I jfkdlsajdkl (spazm attack, sorry) Shit. I hate this, I hate last days of anything.... sob.....NOOOOOO.

Ok, reflect on the past few months. Well........ok, I shall begin my story at the beginning again. First task that we had to face was getting into groups, a lot of other people got into a desirable group, I shall be truthfull and say that mine was not very desirable, I shall not mention any names. I felt like I could not depend on a few of my group members, and it made me sick and sad. Especially during interim assesment when we could see the other group's progress, how they had each member doing a separate part of the video. For us, we ALL had to present during group meetings and shoots. When someone was editing, the other was not cappable to produce other things like animation or special effects. I have my limitations, but working in a group meant other people with other talents.......this fell short.

Anyway, we started of quite well but after post-editing we found that our first video was very messy. So we came up with a different idea. Yes, I must credit myself in starting this ball rolling. So, in the middle of the whole thing, we had to scrap our inttial video and reshoot. This time however, we were a lot more into it and I could tell that we were more positive and enthusiastic during production time. And we took time to plan this video so when it came to editig, it was quite easy.

So, it a real marathon, with bumps and scratches along the way. People fell out or got pushed out but eventually caught on again. We had our fights, wether as friends or groupmates. As I look back, it was a really enjoyable experience as a whole. I still think that I had an undesirable group but am happy with the work that we managed to produce. I met Alfie along the way today and he said that he was very pleasantly surprised with the work that everyone produced. Boo. I told him that that was a very political answer, but he went on to explain to me what he meant and that whatever he said was the truth, he did not expect our year 1 work to turn out like so. Yay. The freshmans should be scared. WOO

Love you all, and I am really happy to get to know everyone and work with you all. The few very special people along the way, you should know who you are (this line is so cliche) and I love you all. really, thanks for the memories and laughs. bye to this blog forever and see you all next year.
LOVE

Day 14-2 "Gala Premiere"

Yes, hello friends, we are all invited to the MOI year 1 Gala Premiere. What a lovely day it was. I got up and wore my best dress (not really) and went to meet my friends. Joel was picking me up in a cab, and as usual, he took his own sweet time eating and picked me up at 12. We were supposed to be in school at....12. Marj called Joel and told him that marks would be deducted off a group if they are late. Shit. Ok, for the record, we were 10 minutes late. The lecturers should really keep to their word about deducting marks off because we had to wait a full 1 hours before the event. I was all seated and ready. Not to mention that I had not had my lunch.

Anyway, when it finally began, the group that borrowed 3 cameras the first week of school were still not there (jake, jy, andrea and angie I think). The event began with Sholleh's group. And it carried on. It was really cute to see "MOI News" they were all dressed up to their best and Raymond gave such a lovely intro. Another group went with the News-casting theme was "News6" I love their clip, it was really funny and original and creative, not to mention a cameo appearance by our dear Joel (it was hillarious). Best original screenplay, I thought, could have gone to Sarah's group if only they didnt end abruptly. The last group that presented was "Crewsade" .............ya, it was GOOD. They were in the same class as me so, over the past month I had seen their rough cut, and I must say that after post editing, it looked really really GOOD. Not to mention the special effects and everything. Damn.

So, the day finally came to an end and it was all hugs and goodbyes and we "celebrated" by going to my place for pizza!! Woo! It was homemade all from scratch. lovely. If your dying to try homebaked goodness fresh from the oven, ask me anytime if you can come ova!! Then we went to watch James and the Giant Peach. I LOVE it. anyone who hasnt seen it and want to take animation should really watch that movie. I love it. Then, before everyone left, there a bit of confusion (I love thesauraus.com, really helpfull when you cant get a particular word) with money issue, and us being the designers we are had to take about half and hour passing the receipts around to those who think they know better until finally settling the "bill" and change. Gosh.

Day 13-2 "Last day of editing"

Yes, so yesterday was the last day of editing. It had to be since we had to export it into a tape on Tuesday, today.
So, we went back to Marjy's place to finish up. There was a lot to be done, we even came up with a timeline for the days' errand. We had to do the subtitles, finish up the credit roll and put in the music...ya.

Doing subtitles took longer than expected. Next was getting that star background thingy. We coldnt just cut out that section on premier...well...we could but there was editing to be done in photoshop because as it fades out, we could still see Tomy Lee Jones face. Under any other circumstances, it would have been perfectly fine, hah, but for this, we cant. Thank God Gary was there with us yesterday, and he managed to move out that sequence as a frame by frame jpg file. yay. So, I went and erased out his face (so sorry love, I'm really alright with your face there) Once that was done, we had to compile our works. Mine I had done the day before actually.
After that was finding a song for the ending. I wanted an orchestra-ic song, you know, the whole strings assamble and all. This took some time because the first few we found on the net were so dark or gloomy or sad. Anyway, we finally found it from the "Jurrasic Park theme" song...ironic.

Yay!!! We finnally got everything done like, an hour before midnight. So tired. Gosh. Poor Marjy's phone was bombarded with like sms-es the whole day from our last groupmate. I was pissed with her too. She told us that she emailed Wahidah the time we would be going to school......ok, 1. she doesnt even know what time we can meet; 2. she doesnt even know if we have finished the video; 3. she doesnt even know where we are at the moment. Lyke, toot off already, you were never helpfull in the first place and you want to attempt to start now?? And emailing Wahidah so did not help. Ok ya.

Saturday

We met up in school quite early, for once, I was the one who came late, so sorry guys. They were so sweet to have brought me these two perfectly scrumptuous tarts...or whatever they called it. It was lovely.

We finally got around to start editing our video in the labs. Unfortunatelly, we discovered that the Premiere version in Marjy's computer was different from those in school and it wouldnt be able to open. So, we had to make our way to Marjy's house.

We went to edit our video. We managed to accomplish a few things. And we made a very very interesting discovery!! We couldnt cut the sequences anymore..so...we fast-forwarded some sequences, mostly Natalya's, as I said, she speaks with a full.stop.at.every.word, so it sounded absolutely normal once we fast-forwarded the tape. Yay. This saved a lot of time really. We also fast-forwarded some of the pauses that each of us included in our sequences.

We also managed to agree on a better credit roll, thanks to Marge and Joel. We were really going to do it "Oscars" style. You know that star background thing that they have in between nominees; we are going to get that transition for each of us.
You know the screen when they show like, the nominees in one shot, yes, where you can see everybody's exasperated expectant faces while they wait for the winner; we will have that as each persons background when we showcase our works. I really dont think I'm making much sense, Anyway! it will all be understood when people watch it on Wednesday.

Friday

On Friday, we went to see Wahidah. Actually, Wahidah wanted to see us, our progress and all the shots that we had to retake. It was another rainy morning that we had to drag ourselves out of :( but I took a new umbrella that wasn't spoilt. Later, we compared umbrellas, we also came to a realization how rapidly people change their minds about what's hot and what's not - About 6 months ago, people refuse to carry those non-foldable umbrellas, now, that was the most fashionable accessory on a rainy day...actually, it doesn't have to be a rainy day..ya; Joel had the tallest umbrella, followed by mine then Marjy's. (I still don't know where all these ( ' apostrophes) are supposed to go. Wuteva.

Wahidah seemed pretty okay with what we had. She did stress on the point that we had to cut our video time back to meet the required time-span.....this left us quite dumb-founded as we had done all the necessary cuts, if we were to cut out even more parts, we would have a really jumpy non-imformative video. Anyway, we decided that we would have to try again and edit the video the following day, Saturday.

Marge had to go to class and Joel and I (Natalya was in the room too, but she had her mac on) went on to watch "Notes on a Scandal". Oh dear, the english they use just astounds me. And it was a very disturbing movie to watch. One line that Judy Dench mentioned in the movie that Joel and I could not possibly get over with was "that was the end of her prebulescent paramour"........like....wtf. I love it.

Day 12-2

Woke up to a stormy weather perfect for sleeping in. Darn it. So, we all met up late because everyone was stuck at home and if we were to brave the rains, someones pants or shoes or bag or back would get really really wet...I wasnt going to be a victim of something I can prevent.

Anyway, we reached school finally. And I realized that I had a broken umbrella :( Anyway, the reason why we had to cogregate in school was to shoot our outro. So, we got Andreas to help us be a cameraman as this shot needed the whole groups' faces. It got off with a rough start because we debated on how a near-perfect shot woud be and how Andreas was supposed to move with the camera....etc...anyway, we got the shot that we wanted and went off to lunch and editing.

Day 11-2 "Never piss the bouncer yo"

Ok, corny tag line. anyway. Yes, I have yet again procrastinated really badly.

So, by reading Marjy's punctual blog, I have recalled that on this day, there was the Diploma Show and I, along with a few other people, volunteered ourselves as ushers. Later in the day, we found out that our positions were more of bouncers (as Mr.Ronald called it) than ushers. I wore heels that day, hence Margy's sentence "Kezzy was tall today"
Note: if in the event of wearing heels, MUST take flipflops or any form of flat shoes in case of agonizing pain.

And according to my blog title, parents are sooo anoying and the Singaporean culture makes them believe that when anything that doesnt subject to their liking allows them to complain to higher authorities. Well tough luck paranoia imbuned minds, youre not allowed in and I cannot do anything about it.

So, today, before the Diploma show, we went to reshoot 2D Art since our video was too long and cutting the previous shot would result in really awful jump cuts.
